LESS THAN 3 months until the curtain is raised on the 2nd Annual Runaway Country Music Festival at Melbourne’s Wickham Park.

The line-up has grown from 12 artists to more than 30.  The latest addition announced today is country superstar Chris Young, who coincidentally just yesterday hit number one again on Billboard.

“That makes five number one hits in a row for Chris Young,” exclaimed Runaway Country Director, Gary McCann. “We are so excited and have been looking forward to adding Chris to what is already a stellar line-up.”

Following the success of the first Runaway Country last spring, impressed Nashville executives are thrilled to see 2012’s event expanded to three days.

According to Gil Cunningham, President of Nashville’s Neste Entertainment, “Florida’s Space Coast has scored a major coup. Growing to three days after just one year is almost unheard of. Securing one of the biggest country music stars of all time, Alan Jackson and the rest of this line-up is over the top.”

McCann continued, “We are all in for a real treat; new country, classic country, rockin’ country, and cry-in-your-beer ballads, too…you’ll experience it all over three great days and nights.”

Along with Alan Jackson and Chris Young, Runaway Country’s 2012 line-up includes chart toppers Jake Owen, Randy Travis, Brantley Gilbert, Kellie Pickler, Big and Rich and Steve Holy.

Also announced; Ashton Shepherd and back by popular demand Lo Cash Cowboys.

Assistant Director, Robin Tibbitts explained how this year’s festival will be non-stop with two stages at opposite ends of the concert bowl playing all day and into the evening.

“Runaway Country is a big supporter of up and coming artists. In addition to a long list of super stars, we get to enjoy an awesome line-up of artists about to break-out. It’s a great tradition at music festivals to see your favorite star, then meet a new artist, then back to a superstar on the main stage and back again. It is so much fun. An amazing experience,” said Tibbitts.

McCann added, “Come Monday morning if you are totally spent emotionally, we have done our job. It’s kind of difficult to explain but outdoor music festivals touch you in a way that an arena or stadium performance can’t. The lakes and beaches, swaying palm trees, camping, a getaway in a hotel or for local residents, heading over to the park for a show unlike any other. We can’t wait for May.”

Rob Varley, Executive Director of Space Coast Office of Tourism added, “To our knowledge, this is the largest gathering of country music stars in one location ever in Florida, actually in the southeast. This is great news for the Space Coast.”
