Diamond Dixie is Gabriela (17) and Bianca (15) LeDuc. They are a country music duo from Central Florida that got started in music at a very early age. It all started when their Dad used to play the guitar to them at night as a bed time routine instead of reading. It wasn’t long before the girls were playing right along with him. The timing was perfect because a young Taylor Swift had just come on the music scene and Hannah Montana was all over the TV. Soon Gabriela played her first talent show with her father singing Miley and Billy Rae Cyrus’ hit “Ready Set Don’t Go.”
When Gabriela got off stage she looked at her Dad and said, “This is what I want to do,” it wasn’t long after that when both girls were playing at various types of gatherings, festivals and church events. Playing guitar was not enough for the girls and they both started dabbling with other instruments. Gabriela also plays mandolin and Bianca the banjo. About this time they started to notice that writing lyrics came easily to them. They began to explore songwriting and they have written and collaborated with others on over 30 songs!
The girls music has evolved but has always reflected their influence and respect for the early county classic artists. Their sound is unique with subtle hints of the Dixie Chicks and Miranda Lambert.
Diamond Dixie is regularly booked at several venues in Central Florida and are rapidly developing a local fan base. Most recently they have been booked at Tootsies World’s Famous Orchid Lounge in Nashville. Professionally they travel to Nashville often to write songs. This has enabled them to meet various industry insiders with whom they are collaborating on several projects including an upcoming recording session.
In the fall of 2014, Diamond Dixie won the top performer award from an industry leading live show producer and they are now working with him to enhance their live show performances. The girls future looks bright as they continue to pursue their goal of becoming a country music recording act!
