"Rebels on the Run" album cover - Average Joe's

Montgomery Gentry‘s latest CD hits stores today, and we have an advanced copy to listen to.  You can pick up your copy in any major retailer, and one lucky fan will open their brand new CD to find a golden ticket that wins them a custom made motorcycle from Demented Cycles!

Overall, this is a great CD that sounds like vintage Montgomery Gentry…good ole’ rockin’ country music with a southern rock edge to it.  This is their first album since joining their new record label, Average Joe’s, and first since Eddie Montgomery battled (and won) prostate cancer and had to deal with his wife divorcing him.

One of the best ways to judge an album is how many songs can you see being a hit on the radio.  Well, this CD is full of radio-ready hits and is easy to listen to from beginning to end, many times over, without wanting to skip over anything.

Lyrics that stand out:

“Am I proud of where I’m from, how I was raised, my daddy’s ways, and this country that I love.  Am I proud that all I see, is black or white, wrong or right, and their ain’t no changing me.  Am I proud of where I stand?  Am I proud of who I am?  You’re damn right I am!” – from “Damn Right I Am”

“Live as fast as you can ’cause you can’t get it back” – from “Ain’t No Law Against That”

“I think I’ll take the long way home…If I’m in a traffic jam, at least I’m not alone.” – from “Empty”
