Here’s our interview with Ashley Briggs!

Ashley Briggs

1. What is the #1 item on your Bucket List?  The #1 thing on my bucket list is to play at the Grand Ole Opry or Madison Square Garden!  Maybe even sell out a show there 🙂

2. What is something that you are passionate about outside of music? Outside of my music, I love to play tennis with my friends and family!  I try to play as often as I can, depending on my busy music schedule!

3. What artists do you look up to/are inspired by?  I look up to lots of artists, the main ones being Carrie Underwood and Martina McBride.  I love the example they set, especially for girls and how grounded they are when it comes to their personal lives.

4. If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?  Crash My Party by Luke Bryan, hands down!

5. If you knew you could pick your final meal, what would it be?  A Laspadas sub! YUM!

6. What is the last music (album or single) that you purchased? Was it a CD or mp3? Midnight Memories by One Direction…(yes, I am a devoted fangirl 🙂 and it was the mp3 version, I couldn’t wait to go to the store!

7. What has been your biggest “Wow” moment in your musical career?  Definitely hearing my song ‘Fly’ playing on the Hallmark Channel, or my song ‘Shades’ play in the Justice Stores right after ‘Begin Again’ by Taylor Swift!  It was awesome!

8. If you could pitch one song of yours to a major record label executive, what would it be?  I would pitch my song ‘Island Cowboy’ just because it’s such a fun song and everyone seems to love it!

9. What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? “Sing to the Lord and everything else will fall into place.”

10. What else would you like our readers to know about you?  I am a big fan of being outdoors, hanging with friends, playing tennis, going to the beach, kayaking, and riding bikes!  I love seeing new movies, and don’t think the night is complete without a stop at the ice cream store!  I am also working very hard to further my music career and am very thankful to all my family, friends and fans who support me!  Thank you!

15-year old SFCM Featured Artist Lizzie Sider is continuing her tour of elementary and middle schools by conducting her Bully Prevention Assembly at over 100 schools during January, February and March of 2014, throughout the entire State of Florida.  The tour continues after a successful weekend in Nashville, where sheperformed the national anthem at the Nashville Predators game before taking the stage at the historic Bluebird Café!

“Bullying doesn’t just happen in October during Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, it happens all year,” says Lizzie Sider.  “As someone who understands what it is like to be bullied, I am on a mission to help anyone who doesn’t think anyone will listen.”

During the 30 to 40-minute assembly, Sider will encourage kids to help prevent bullying as she recounts her own personal journey as a young student being teased and ridiculed in elementary school, what it felt like, and how she tried to deal with it.  In addition, Lizzie discusses the importance of everyone standing up to stop bullying.  She will also perform her original song “Butterfly,” which Sider co-wrote about her experience and how she overcame the teasing.  Her goal is to help kids as a positive role model, having risen above her own ridicule, to pursue a career in music.

As a spokesperson for PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, which was launched by PACER in 2006, Sider has already visited over 80 schools in California before starting her school tour in Florida.

Maggie Baugh Stars on Country Cruise!

Posted by at 9:34 pm on January 23, 2014

Maggie Baugh

Check out this first-hand account of Maggie Baugh’s experience on the recently concluded Country Cruise!

What an amazing week last week!  I wanted to share it with you first.

I went on the country music cruise as a 13 year old girl with a dream,  buying a ticket at the last minute for the cruise:  http://www.countrycruising.com.

I hoped to meet some artists, or music industry people.   I figured the worst that could happen would be a week of just listening to some really good country music.

The very first day, I went in to the artist picture event, with my fiddle, and the artists loved it and asked me to play.  On the first day, I got to play my fiddle in front of:

  • Trace Adkins
  • Montgomery Gentry
  • Wynonna
  • Neal McCoy
  • Love and Theft
  • Craig Morgan
  • Lonestar

The legendary Mr. Neal McCoy was so nice to me that he told me to bring my fiddle to his show, and he will bring me on stage to play for the audience.   AND HE DID!!!  I played to half of the cruise ship on the Wednesday night.  I think he liked it, because he invited me back on Thursday night to play in his show for the other half of the ship.   I was so happy to be part of his show!  If you have not seen Neal McCoy live, you are missing out.   He is amazing and it was a blast to be part of it.

Here is the video of the first day with Neal McCoy:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIi1xSepa5o

The rest of the video’s will be posted on youtube and Facebook.

I also played for the nice people at the Flying Dutchman Travel agency that runs the cruise.  They introduced me to the production manager and helped me get stage time.  I performed a concert on Thursday night, and Friday night!   On Thursday, I met the amazing Dave Oleson, who plays guitar for the band Steel Magnolia.  Dave Oleson and I played together during the afternoon on the cruise deck.  He is so good that we worked out some great licks for my songs.   Dave Oleson was on stage with me for my first two shows and really took my performance to a new level!

Later that night, there was an artist jam, where I got to play background fiddle for other artists, and play a few songs.   I sang the song Wagon Wheel with the most amazing professional artists in the band with me.  Craig Morgan’s fiddle player on the cruise was so good at the fiddle part I really realized how much I have to learn.

The final day, I got to play on the main stage during the final spectacular showcase!   This cruise was a dream come true.  I have so many good pictures and videos I want to share!   Please make sure you are following me on Facebook:  http://www.facebook.com/LikeMaggie  so that you get to see them as I post them!

It will take a few weeks to post them all!   When I wasn’t performing, I was meeting other artists and watching their shows.   I learned so much.

Thank you for letting me share this wonderful experience.

I hope you get a chance to come see me this weekend!   I play Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

  • Friday, Jan 24St Andrews Coconut Creek8pm – 9pm
  • Saturday, Jan 25South Florida Fair – 15 minute sets at   12:15, 1:45, 3:15 and 5:15
  • Sunday, Jan 26Deerfield Beach Festival of the Arts – 10:15 – 10:45

Love Ya!

Maggie Baugh
