On Tuesday, country music star Sammy Kershaw released a new single and music video in tribute to the late George Jones, who passed away last month at the age of 81. The track titled, “The Route That I took,” has been praised for its vocal similarities to Jones and some have even dubbed Kershaw his ‘heir’ because of their musical resemblance. To date, Kershaw has been working on a new Christian album but sources reveal that the two  may have collaborated on some other songs together.

“George was a major part of my life for many years,” says Kershaw. “He was my friend and mentor and I wrote this song with him in mind a while back and hoped that he one day might record it. I couldn’t think of a more appropriate time to put it out. God Bless you, Possum and see you again someday my friend.”

Kershaw is a Grammy-nominated artist whose best known works include “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful,” “Cadillac Style,” “Queen of My Double Wide Trailer” and “Third Rate Romance.” He’s currently on the Roots and Boots Tour with fellow artists Aaron Tippin and Joe Diffie.

Pistol Annies performed their single “Hush Hush” live on Tuesday’s “Late Show with David Letterman”. The song is the lead single from the group’s album “Annie Up,” released on May 7. All three ladies-Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, and Angaleena Presley– had name plates attached to their microphone stands with their own quirky title. Lambert’s read, “Lone Star,” Presley’s read, “Holler,” and Monroe’s read, “Hippie”. Check out the trio in their newest release “Hush Hush” from their second album “Annie Up.”
