Garth Brooks

Garth Brooks was interviewed on 99.9 Kiss Country (WKIS-Miami) this morning, where he talked about what it’s been like back on the road, how Trisha Yearwood is part of his show, GhostTunes, his favorite song to perform (“Callin’ Baton Rouge”), and his favorite song (“The Dance”).  It was a great interview by Kenny Walker and Two-Story Lori (who was filling in for U-Turn Laverne), and they closed it by asking when Garth was coming to South Florida.  He was coy about it, saying that he could neither confirm or deny that he’ll be down here, but then said he remembers his last visit to Miami vividly and loved it.  He closed by saying that he gets to decide what cities the tour goes to, and that he will be down here at some point to see us.

So there you have it folks, Garth says he WILL be in South Florida at some point during this 3-year tour!  Our guess is that we’ll see him during the summer of 2015 (hopefully we don’t have to wait until 2016!).  Why summer?  Well, if you haven’t been paying attention, Garth is announcing his tour dates one city at a time, playing multiple shows over a weekend, usually spread between Thursday – Sunday (and some days he’s doing 2 shows in one night!).  It some markets, he is sticking around for 2 weekends of shows, reaching the double digits for the number of shows he does in one city.

The two South Florida options would be the BB&T Center in Sunrise or the American Airlines Arena in Miami, both of which will be available in the summer once the Florida Panthers (NHL) and Miami Heat (NBA) seasons conclude.  Due to the multiple-show/date format, he’d have to wait until the seasons were over, or find a 2-week break (All-Star weekend combined with a long road trip?) to squeeze the shows in.  Garth could choose just one of the two venues, do back-to-back weekends with one in each venue, or do a series of shows at one, then come back a year later for the other.  Regardless of how he attacks it, he WILL be here, and you WILL want to go see him!  We got to see two of his shows in October up in Jacksonville, and it was an amazing experience.
