We sat down with Colt Ford recently, here’s what he had to say….

What food do you make the Bus Driver stop for??

Normally something that’s awful for me, but my driver will wake me up and tell me “Hey Man there’s a What-a-Burger up here.”It’s always something we don’t see very often, and we stop for sure.

Did you get your $500 CMA Cheeseburger?

No, but man I was hungry… We have to be at the Red Carpet at 6pm, right at dinner time and there isn’t anything til after the show…

Anything special that happened at the CMAs?

It was very cool to be nominated & my favorite part was watchin Luke dancing in those sparkly jeans. I asked him if he wanted to take dance lessons [laughs]… But seriously, it’s so nice to be able to see all the people you are friends with in the industry, it’s not like you get to see them if you’re playing a festival together, they are in a meet & greet while you’re on stage or vice-versa.

With all the collaborations you’ve done, which is your Favorite?

I don’t have a favorite, everyone I’ve worked with is a friend of mine, and anyone on my record is someone I can call… These have never been set up by the record label, these are real collaborations with a personal touch by me.

Anyone you look forward to collaborating with?

I’ve always been a Keith Urban fan, we talked at the CMT awards, and then again at the BMIs… He said “Lets do something together” so hopefully sometime in the future we could set something up.

How hard is living with Diabetes on the road?

Very hard, I get yelled at by my managers and my wife a lot… Being on the road there isn’t anywhere that’s healthy open in the middle of the night and lets be honest I’m not going into McDonalds at 2am and say “Hey can I get a salad?”…

How do you classify yourself?

I don’t want to be part of the Hick Hop Genre, I am a Country artist… I perform country music.

“She Likes to Ride in Trucks” is the current single on the album, what’s next?

There wont be another single off of this album, we are currently working on a new album to be released in the Spring of 2012, most likely April or May.

Tell me about the new record…

This new record would be closer to the older Colt Ford. We’ll be more like the album “Ride Through The Country.” I’m gonna make records my fans like, I’m not worried about anything but my fans. I’ve been talkin to a lot of people to do records with. I’d like to work with people I haven’t worked with yet.

How do you feel about the “Nay” Sayers?

A lot of people say I’m not country… I feel like telling them, “I’ll tell you what, I’mma stop in the middle of the show, bring you on stage and tell the people at my show that you think I’m not country, and we’ll see what they think of being told they aren’t country.”

Any plans to tour with anyone in 2012?!

Actually, I’m going to headline my own tour called the “Declaration of Independence” tour, with JB & The Moonshine Band, and The Lacs. We will be playing at fairs and festivals, and we’re hoping to keep tickets in the $20 range so it can be a family thing, where Mom & Dad & the kids can come out and see us play.

Tell me about Mr Goodtime Moonshine & Mr Goodtime Vodka.

This is a real Moonshine, I refused to put my name on something that isn’t real. This moonshine is made with sugar and made in a giant still. We spent a year with the feds getting everything situated and approved. This is white moonshine that burns blue, it’s REAL. And the vodka, well I’m not a vodka drinker, but I know there are a lot of ladies out there that do drink moonshine, but a lot of them don’t.  I took them my top 5 vodkas and we made a vodka that I thought my fans would like.
